You're so rock 'n' roll IOC

I always want Millwall but will guess Norwich at home.

Millwall for me, although that would be a very tricky game

Job done, it’s the FA Cup, its all about being in the next round, not the performance.

Was really impressed in the second half once we actually ran at them. The pitch was absolutely appalling but thought we applied ourselves well.

They created very little and we dealt with the bombardment of aerial shit.

Enjoyable away day even though it was fucking freezing at times

Priestfield pitch was once the 3rd best in the country behind the old Wembley Stadium and Old Trafford. Was a lovely playing surface (I use to watch the Gills a lot in the late 80's early 90's) watching the highlights can see its as bad as any lower league pitch now.

Gillingham have been trying for years to move from Priestfield as they cannot build up the stands as the residents object every time an application goes in. Problem is, for them, is that can only look at sites outside of Gillingham (in general, the town is a shithole).

Think we need to accept that these games, whilst they look easy on paper, they're generally not that straight forward. Like you say, the pitch was awful, the oppo are really up for it and we're probably not so much.

I think if you look at what happened vs Oxford - vs what happened yesterday, I'm very happy. They didn't even look like scoring - that's a massive bonus for a defence who have been shipping goals for fun.

I was at the game yesterday, jesus the state of that stand Ive seen thicker straws than the scaffolding on that fucker, but I digress. The pitch may have been bobbly but there was no excuse for Haller to nearly hit me in row GG at the back of the death trap. Go round the goalie and tap in. Fucking awful finish. Still we won. But solid performance, no it was dreadful, especially the first half. I hope we play a LOT better against the yorkshire cunts on Friday

Obviously acid test comes against Sheffield United - unfortunately, their fitness is probably so far off where it should be, it may come too early.

Love the change of formation. Very smart putting into practice against lesser opposition. We look a far more solid outfit with the 3 centre backs and Rice in front. The beauty of the 3-5-2 is that we only really need one holding. I think Diop, Balbuena and Ogbonna actually thrive in a 3.

I thought second half, the Masuaka/Anderson over load down the left was encouraging.

Fredericks is a big blow as having pace down the right hand side is imperative in that system. Thankfully we're in Jan, so if it's a serious one, hopefully we can recruit.

All in all, 6 goals, 2 clean sheets to start. Good on Moysie and the boys. I feel like a weight has been lifted now Pellegrini has gone

Re: ⚽ Gillingham v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Although he can be inconsistent from game to game and even in between games; one thing you get from Ogbonna is a bloke prepared to battle and fight. He definitely has heart.

Against Gillingham that was exactly what was needed and he had a brilliant game.

Ogbonna is a weird player. He has had sustained patches of looking truly dreadful - one of the worst. Then a new season begins and he looks rock solid again, a top player.

Re: ⚽ Gillingham v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Bet they couldn't believe their luck when Zabaleta came on, still, put in a good shift and proved me wrong as I honestly thought they'd attack him with pace to try and get a goal when it was 0-0.

I was at the game yesterday and the pitch was awful so bobbly and not running true that's why so many first touches were so poor.

We got the job done and look forward to Friday! COYI

Re: ⚽ Gillingham v West Ham - Official Match Thread
They watched Oxford and many of our games and smartly tried to bully our centre halfs

First, good move to put three in and luckily we haven't listened to many WHO voices over the few years and got rid of Ogbonna. Made a huge difference last night.

Once that petered out we controlled the game until their late flurry.

Still need to be much better in keeping the ball, passing and in the final third. Hopefully effort in training will bring that.

But good result and again better effort overall.

Re: ⚽ Gillingham v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Yesterday he could of created so much more if his first touch didnt send the ball up to his head every time

fraser 10:03 Mon Jan 6
Re: ⚽ Gillingham v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Without Anderson we probably don't score.

Yes he wastes a lot of opportunities, but he still creates more chances than any other player we have. A couple of sublime balls in our last 2 games which led 2 goals.

I'm happy if he does that once a game.

Re: ⚽ Gillingham v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Shit first half, got the job done in the 2nd

In the hat tonight which is the main thing and a clean sheet is nice

Rice superb, Fornals continues to grow

Anderson did ok but needs a first touch, Arthur needs a fucking brain

Balbuena seems to be half the player we see last season?
